υυ The tragic death of 14-year-old Samuel Berkeley has shocked the football community as well as the wider public.
As a mark of respect for the youngster who played for Hattersley FC in the East Manchester Junior League, Heyside held a minute’s silence at all their games in the first weekend of December.
A crowd-funding page was set up to help Sam’s family meet funeral costs. At the time of going to press it had almost doubled the initial target of £2,500.
