LANCASHIRE’S finest amateur golfers teed up at Crompton and Royton on Sunday, July 8 to compete for the Royton Sword which forms part of the Northern Order of Merit.
The winner with gross rounds of 70 and 69 for a total of 139 (one under par) was Michael Bennett from Bury Golf Club.
Runner-up on a second-round card play-off was Roger Smithies from Manchester GC (67 and 72)
Third place was previous three times winner Ciaran Doherty from Bury with 141 gross.
The Anniversary Salver (best nett competition) was won by Oliver Tovee, from Macclesfield, with scores of 64 and 70 for 134. Runner-up was Jason Renton, West Lancs GC, with 69 and 72 for 141.
