The Grand Finale: Oldham Half marks end of Milltown Races 2018 Series

The Milltown Races Oldham Half Marathon – the last event in the 2018 Milltown Races Series – is fast approaching. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, October 28.

More than 300 runners are already signed up to take part in the 13.1 mile race, which is renowned for being one of the most challenging half marathons in the UK. There are still some places left for the event, which starts in Oldham Town Centre at 9.30 am.

Oldham Half Marathon organised by OCL. PIC shows athletes on start line.

The half marathon route to Saddleworth takes in a 1,100ft ascent and offers runners views of the Peak District National Park. Volunteer marshals will be out in force and members of the local community are being encouraged to come out and cheer the runners on.

Race director Patrick Wolstenholme said: “There is still time to take part in the Oldham Half Marathon – we’re hoping to fill every one of the 500 places that are available to ensure the 2018 race is a really memorable one. We’d urge local people who can’t take part to come out on the day, soak up the atmosphere and support the runners.”

There will be traffic management in place at the start of the event, which could cause some short delays on Yorkshire Street, Yorkshire Street to Prince Street, Bottom O’th’ Moor (Mumps Bridge) and Shaw Road junctions of Huddersfield Road.

To enter the race, to offer volunteer support or for more information visit www.milltownraces.co.uk.

Entry costs £25, or £23 if you’re affiliated to a UKA club.

Closing date for entries is October 19, but on the day entries will be available between 7.30am-9am.
