The awards will take place in December at the Speaker’s House in the House of Commons and are organised by the Patchwork Foundation.

They celebrate the work of MPs from across the country who actively work with underrepresented and disadvantaged communities across the UK.

The work that Mrs Abrahams has been nominated for covers supporting disabled people, tackling inequalities and bringing communities together, and her award winning Be Fair – Pay on Time late payments campaign supporting small businesses.

MPs are nominated by members of the public or grassroots community organisations and selected by an independent panel of judges.

Mrs Abrahams said: “I’m delighted that my efforts to fight injustice, change attitudes to disability, tackle inequalities, such as late payments experienced by small businesses, and support young people are being highlighted by this nomination.

“Winning the MP of the year award would give me the platform to make even more in-roads into tackling these issues, both locally and nationally, so I’m very grateful to the members of the public who nominated me.”

Voting closes on Sunday, August 18 at 11.59pm. To find out more and place your vote go online to: patchworkfoundation.org.uk

  1. The only vote this woman should receive is the OUT vote. She does not respond to her emails even when protocol is followed (supplying my name and address to prove that I’m one of her constituents). Along with Jim McMahon, they have both gone against the will of their Oldham constituents.
